Its Anti-Bullying Week!
Fir Tree have supported the national Anti-Bullying week by wearing odd socks to school today! We also had a special assembly – where we learnt more about Anti-Bullying and the ABA campaign.
1) We looked at the definition of bullying to understand it
“Bullying is the repetitive, intentional hurting of one person or a group by another person or group, where the relationship involves an imbalance of power”
It can be physical, verbal or psychological
Bullying can happen face to face or online.
We want to STOP bullying. To help us to remember we can say that bullying is
Additionally, the STOP acronym can be used to help children remember what they should do – Start Telling Other People.
2) We went through some scenarios to decide if they were bullying or not – most were people being unkind, not actually bullying
3) We carefully examined the roles of the people affected by bullying and decided if you see someone being bullied you should report it so that someone can make it stop
The children have been working really hard on our 6 values this year. In each term we have concentrated on a different value:
Term 1 - Respect
Term 2 - Friendship
Term 3 - Tolerance
Term 4 - Courage
Term 5 - Perseverance
Term 6 - Responsibility
