Take One Tune
To start Term 3, we investigated a piece of music from the BBC's Take 10 Pieces. Maple Class were given Connect It! by Anna Meredith to explore.
First we spent time investigating the piece of music – we thought about the following things:
What the title could be
What instruments we could hear
What rhythmic features we could hear
What we thought the story behind the piece might be
We also spent time investigating the composer Anna Meredith. We learnt the following facts:
Anna Meredith is a Scottish composer
She was born on 12th January 1978.
She writes electronic and acoustic music.
She likes to work with orchestras, bands and choreographers.
She uses clapping, stamping, shouting and beatboxing instead of instruments.
Her music has been performed on The Last Night of the Proms.
We spent time watching ‘Connect It’ on the BBC Take 10 Pieces website and recording the different movements / sounds that were created. After this, we worked in groups to recreate our own version of this piece. Here are some photos of our performances:
