Take One Tune

Take One Tune

To start Term 3, we investigated a piece of music from the BBC's Take 10 Pieces. Maple Class were given Connect It! by Anna Meredith to explore.

First thoughts

First we spent time investigating the piece of music we thought about the following things:

  • What the title could be

  • What instruments we could hear

  • What rhythmic features we could hear

  • What we thought the story behind the piece might be

Anna Meredith

We also spent time investigating the composer Anna Meredith. We learnt the following facts:

  • Anna Meredith is a Scottish composer

  • She was born on 12th January 1978.

  • She writes electronic and acoustic music.

  • She likes to work with orchestras, bands and choreographers.

  • She uses clapping, stamping, shouting and beatboxing instead of instruments.

  • Her music has been performed on The Last Night of the Proms.

Our Version

We spent time watching ‘Connect It’ on the BBC Take 10 Pieces website and recording the different movements / sounds that were created. After this, we worked in groups to recreate our own version of this piece. Here are some photos of our performances:
