This week we had the opportunity to meet Imogen from the NSPCC and learnt about keeping safe. We had an assembly and then a workshop to provide us with strategies that we could use if we experienced a tricky situation. As well as this, we learnt about Speaking Out and talking to Trusted Adults if we were worried about anything. We really enjoyed the session and thought of some fantastic ideas.
Sycamore and Willow Buddy Reading
On Friday 18th November, Sycamore and Willow took part in some buddy reading. We started by record some S2S for how we were going to get the most out of the session and then we shared the books we had brought. All of the children enjoyed spending time reading and discussing their books. Here are some of the photos from our reading afternoon:
Children in Need - Friday 18th November 2016
Today we had the opportunity to come into school wearing non-school uniform to help raise money for Children in Need. During the day we had the chance to place our change on Pudsey the Bear in our library and throw sponge balls (soaked in chilly water) at Ms Khan and Mrs McRobbie in our Castle! Sycamore spent some time reflecting on our School Values and SMART areas and decided that through fundraising we were showing: values, self and people smart skills, as well as demonstrating the value of respect. As a school, we were able to raise lots of money for this amazing charity - thank you to everyone who contributed!
Today Sycamore had the chance to learn Capoeria with Mr McRobbie. We learnt the monkey and jaguar position and had the opportunity to practise these as a class. As well as this, we learnt the different tricks of these animals - a monkey's trick is a cartwheel and a jaguar's trick is a bridge. Mr McRobbie also showed us how to escape from different kicks and we had the chance to practise with a partner these moves. We had a fab time, here are some pictures of our morning:
Christmas Craft Fayre
Sycamore had the opportunity to make Christmas gingerbread to sell at the Craft Fayre. We had so much fun making batches of gingerbread in groups before rolling out the dough and cutting different Christmas shapes out of it. Here are some photos of the different stages of our baking:
Fire Safety Talk
Sycamore had the chance to learn about Fire Safety with Firefighter Reading. We spent the morning learning about:
Fir Tree Forest
On Friday 2nd December, Sycamore had the opportunity to go into the Fir Tree Forest with Mrs Smith to develop our teamwork and Nature Smart skills. As a class we spent the morning creating: a log shed, painting a log shed and filling our log shed with supplies for the winter. We had an amazing time - here are some fun pictures from our morning:
