Humanities History and Geography

The Humanities is at the heart of many of our Curricular projects at Fir Tree and through our learning in Humanities, we encourage, promote and develop our sense of time; an awareness of change, within and beyond their our time and an appreciation of the world we live in (of climates, physical features, people and their culture). Essentially, the Humanities help us to develop a deeper awareness that what happens in the world has an impact on our own lives.

We are proud of our exciting, creative and child-led curriculum and the examples of children's learning showcases the depth of their knowledge, enthusiasm and sense of pride in their work. Some of our Humanities-centred projects include: Ancient Egyptians, the Ancient Maya, the Ancient Greeks, local history studies, Lest We Forget, the Victorians, the Tudors, Early Settlers, the Romans, the Stone Age, Extreme Earth, map skills, River Journey and Polar Adventures.
