This term we are developing our knowledge of Earth and Space.
We have been exploring figurative language and using it to describe 'our imaginary world or planet'. In our descriptions. we have practised including :-
At first we worked in groups to brainstorm our ideas and to create sentences.
Following on from this , we worked independently to write individual ones.
Here are some of our examples :-
"The big shining star exploded loudly like a massive nuclear bomb, as it quickly fell to the dusty ground angrily" (Alesha, Tia Rose, Kyra, Dorian and Ayman)
" The sweet smell of freshly cut grass rushes rapidly through your nostrils" (Ella)
"The happy fish swam rapidly, like a racing car, through the salty water" (Brooke)
"In the ancient forest, long thin skeletal trees reached over the thick slimy bog, slowly leaning over the long forgotten, moss covered boat"
"As quick as lightening, gold fish scattered around the filthy ocean, rubbing their shimmering scales against an underwater tree, which was dancing in the currents" (Alesha)
"The white fluffy polar bears shout for help at the top of their lungs, as the cool cold ice cracks slowly" (Justin)
In our History lesson, we used our knowledge and understanding of chronology, to order significant dates of space travel and exploration.
We used the I pads to research extra interesting facts to add to those on the timeline.
Amberley: "I have learnt that James E Hill won the space medal of honour"
Daniel: "I have learnt that fruit flies were the first bugs to be sent to space"
Jacob :"The interesting fact that I have learnt is that lettuce was the first food grown and eaten in space"
Grace :"One fact that I found was that Sally Ride became the first American woman in space"
