Take One Piece

This term, Sycamore class began with Take One Piece.

The class investigated the piece 'Storm' by Benjamin Britten and explored the musical features  in particular the dynamics, tempo and speed.

This gave the children the idea of creating their own graphic scores to represent a storm at sea.

Drawing on previous knowledge of figurative language, the children wrote some emotive poems about a storm, which included:-

  • onomatopoeia
  • similies
  • alliteration
  • personification
  • To conclude the week's work, the class had great fun representing some onomatopoeic words in 'Pop Art' style
