Marvellous Maths!

Fir Tree Forest

On Friday 29th September, Maple were the first class to visit the Fir Tree Forest! We met Mrs Smith and went through the S2S for being down in the forest. As a class, we spent the morning: learning how to carry equipment (like loppers and shearers); clearing stinging nettles, clipping back branches, raking back leaves and cutting branches to be used on the fire. We had an amazing time - here are some fun pictures from our morning:

Archaeological Dig!

On Friday 29th September, Maple class had the opportunity to go on a local trip to Highcroft (a new building site at Site B in Wallingford). We met David who showed us around the site which has been excavated and a group of archaeologists who have found lots of exciting remnants of an early settlement dating back to the Iron Age. Excitingly, we were shown: several roundhouses, a post trackway, a Stone Age Neolithic Henge (like Stone Henge) which all made up an Iron Age village. It was extremely exciting, here are some photos from our morning:

Harvest Festival - We teamed up with Ash class for the afternoon and they taught us the story of The Little Red Hen! Thank you!
