Thank you for visiting our website and taking an interest in our school. We welcome visitors so please contact the school office to make an appointment or to arrange a telephone conversation with me.
Our school website covers information, which includes our policies, the curriculum we provide and the learning each class has planned, along with examples of work.
The children are at the heart of everything we do. Each child is an individual and they come with their own set of needs, skills and qualities. We have a committed team of professionals who are dedicated to ensuring each child is given a range of opportunities and experiences to make each day special and unique. Whatever a child’s age or stage when they arrive at our school they are all given equal opportunity to excel and make progress from their starting points.
Please read about the curriculum we offer https://www.fir-tree-juniors.org/curriculum/ and the many opportunities available to all our children. Our subject leaders lead their specific subject’s learning, providing extended opportunities to make their subjects come alive, giving the children as much experiential learning as possible.
We have a Behaviour policy which follows three main school rules and the children learn about respect, keeping safe and being ready to learn. We use the Family Links programme, which is part of our PSHE curriculum and it also teaches children about taking responsibility for their actions; having choices and consequences for negative behaviour. Bullying is not tolerated and children learn what bullying behaviour means and the impact this has on others. In dealing with any kind of challenging behaviour, we work closely with parents and where needed external professionals to help the child. The safety of all children is of paramount importance for us.
One of the highlights of the children’s day are our school lunches. Siva, our chef, takes great care in preparing healthy daily meal options and the uptake of the meals speaks for itself how delicious they are. Menus are uploaded on the school website and we encourage parents to go through the menu with their child to help them make their selection https://www.fir-tree-juniors.org/lunch-menus/.
We offer both a breakfast club before school and an after school club called Fir Tree Fun Time. Our breakfast club is a ‘drop-in’ so there is no need to book a place. However, for Fir Tree Fun Time, booking and payments are taken in advance. This is to help with staffing, food orders and resources. Our friendly office team are always available to answer any queries, or direct them to the relevant person. We have an ‘open door’ approach and we welcome feedback.
