The government has allocated additional funding to schools to support those pupils who would benefit from extra support. The universal catch-up premium for 2020-21 is to ensure that schools can support pupils in making up for any loss of learning during the recent lockdown of schools.
Our school’s allocation is based on a calculation of £80 per pupil, which will be paid in three tranches, Autumn 2020, early 2021 and summer 2021. While the funding is calculated on a per pupil basis, schools have been told to use the sum available to them as a single total from which to prioritise support for pupils depending on their need.
The Governors of our school have agreed to spend the funding on after school sessions where teachers and TAs will be taking groups for children for additional work on reading, writing and maths.
